I may have permanently outsmarted one aspect of the game, though. ![]() I can count on one hand the number of times I've jumped in the longship and said "the wind is with me!". In my experience, the wind always seems to be blowing from where I'm trying to sail, lol. Or they could add something in the game that lets you 'purify' the ores/bars or put them in a special container for portal transport. ![]() What might also be a decent compromise is that you can't take ore through portals, but you can take bars. I get that there does need to be some slowdown since the Meadows is basically just a tutorial and it's supposed to take a good amount of time to build up with all the things you get access to in the Black Forest, but it feels like right now it drags a little too much, especially when you're trying to move things between islands. Then once they're tamed we can strap carts to them and they can run down paths/roads at a faster speed than simply lugging a cart by hand. What would be really nice is if we could get some sort of labor-based animal added to the game in the Meadows region that can be tamed, i.e. I get why they do it, because it encourages the use of carts and such, but early on it really sucks and brings progression to a huge slowdown as you try to figure out how to best deal with it. It's definitely a bottleneck that's making my friend frustrated, especially since trying to set up camp on another island in the Black Forest biome ends up with 3+ Greydwarves attacking us like every few mins or so. Perhaps an "improved portal" with late game materials is the answer? I'm pretty happy with my black forest smelting center I never would have created if the portals moved ore. I still don't know whether or not I like the restriction. They may or may not change the functionality when they hit their release version which probably gives you more reasons to go further. This is a means to artificially inflate, but not necessarily bad. ![]() It's early access, so there may not be enough reasons to explore further after you've found all your biomes and bosses. If you have to send 400 silver ore home by boat, maybe you'll take a different route and find something new. They're basically forcing incentive for more exploration. With portals people can inadvertantly cap their travels. People generally like to have a home base. They want to promote outposts with more than just a bed and campfire, and they want to promote ship travel.
